Joseph married Katerina (Katie) Fischer on July 22, 1901.  They were married by a Justice of the Peace in Chicago at ages 26 and 18 (17?).  Katie was born on 7/2/1884 in Bohemia Germany.

 It is the family’s understanding that Katie was institutionalized sometime after Cecelia’s death (1/31/1912).  The family disintegrated, Sal and Ann being raised by John and Rose, and Joe Jr. by Theodore and May.

 A burial plot was purchased in 1907 at Resurrection Cemetary and their daughters, Cecelia and young Katerina, are buried there.   Joseph Sr. died of a heart attack and is buried at St. Mary’s.

Katie lived at the East Moline State Hospital and Sanitarium.  She died at age 86 and is buried in an unmarked grave at Hampton Cemetary, Hampton, IL.
